May 2024

On Sunday 12th May the Club took part in "Mills on the Air".
This event takes place on or around the second weekend of May - Sat/Sun 11th/12th this year.
Fortunately the wx was very kind with thunder storms in the local area waiting until the evening!

More than 300 windmills and watermills are usually open to the public and some have an amateur radio station on site usually operating with specially allocated callsigns.

Special event station GB2HM was activated by members of the Club at Hough Windmill nr Swannington from approx 13:00-16:00 BST on the Sunday. 40m SSB was the main band used with FM on VHF also available.

It was decided that, due to it being a fairly low key event, no QSL cards would be produced or issued on this occasion.

More details and some pictures can be found about the Mills on the Air event and the Hough Mill via links on the GB2HM page on QRZ.
